Getting through thick ice efficiently and dropping lines in the water is what everyone wants. In the past, this involved a two-stroke engine that could handle a big auger drill.

But cordless batteries have come a long way, and StrikeMaster trusts these to rip up ice just like its gas-powered models.

What’s more, the brand has responded to winter anglers who asked for a lighter, more mobile option on the ice.

These three drill options are built for different uses (and ice), from ultra-portable to heavy-duty.

A light-and-fast option for ice drilling, the Lite-Flite Lazer connects to any professional-grade 18V (or higher) cordless electric drill with a half-inch chuck. It also works with a StrikeMaster ice auger powerhead. And to cut through ice, this unit uses serrated stainless steel Lazer blades.

For stability, the Lazer Drill Unit has a steel hex shaft and a reinforced “T” connection to the carriage. There’s also a feature that steadies the drill while you’re pushing through the ice. At 4.4 pounds, the Lite-Flite is 1.6 pounds lighter than the brand’s next-lightest 6-inch auger drill.

This is StrikeMaster’s compact but capable full auger that can bore up to 100 holes. It can run forward and in reverse, and it includes a deadman safety switch with its power button. Impact-resistant handles assist with steadier drilling when the going gets tough.

The powerhead is an electric DC brushless mother with a 50:1 gear ratio. The 24V lithium-ion battery comes with a status indicator and a control system to help prolong its life. StrikeMaster says there’s enough juice in there to drill 100 holes with a 6-inch auger (or 50 holes with an 8-inch auger) before it needs to be recharged — which only takes 2 hours.

This is the biggest electric auger StrikeMaster makes. A 40V 5Ah lithium-ion battery provides the engine’s torque and power. It recharges in 2.5 hours.

Like the 24V auger, it has stainless steel Lazer blades, ergonomic handles, and deadman and power switches with four LED indicators. The planetary gear system has a 15.9:1 gear ratio.
