Professional Tool Reviews for Pros

When Ryobi announced the first couple of tools in the USB Lithium, Clint was stoked about the Power Cutter. On the other hand, my first thought was “where’s the screwdriver?” Apparently, I just needed to be patient for a few weeks because the Ryobi USB Lithium cordless screwdriver is on its way to a Home Depot near you.

First of all, Ryobi’s USB Lithium line is a 4-volt system based on a single lithium-ion cell. It’s less powerful than 12V and 18V systems, but it’s great for more compact tools that don’t need much power to do their jobs. What I really like about the power source is that the battery is removable—something many cordless screwdrivers don’t do. When a battery dies or reaches the end of its service life, just swap a new one in and keep going.

Ryobi designed a pivoting action in the middle of the housing. You can use it as a pistol grip or more like a traditional screwdriver. Just twist it into the position you prefer or to match the job at hand and let its 200 RPM take care of your light-duty fastening chores.

Cordless screwdrivers are great to have around your house or shop, and Ryobi is retailing this one at $39 for the kit. It has a 2-year warranty to back it up. Look for this one at The Home Depot in-store and online starting in May 2022.
